Fagrskinna. A Catalogue of the Kings of Norway. A translation with Introduction and Notes. by Alison Finlay. the Northern World, 7. Brill: Leiden & Boston, 2004. Pp. 334. 3 maps.

The manuscript known as Fagrskinna ("beautiful parchment") was destroyed in the great fire of Copenhagen in 1728, but two versions, A and B, are known from copies. The standard edition, of which this is a translation, is based on the older version, B, written in the middle of the thirteenth century. the main deviation of the half-century younger A version is its alternative beginning, printed here as an appendix.
