Egils saga Skallagrímssonar III: C-Redaktionen. Edited by Michael Chesnutt. Editiones Arnamagnæanæ, Series A, vol. 21. Copenhagen: C. A. Reitzels Forlag, 2006. Pp. lxviii + 204; 3 plates. Dkr 280.

This volume continues the critical edition of Egils saga Skallagrímssonar, the preparations for which were begun half a century ago by Jón Helgason, who divided the approximately seventy manuscripts of the saga into three groups and recommended separate editions of each of the three redactions. Jón Helgason himself managed to prepare a main text of the three redactions before his death in 1986, at which time Bjarni Einarsson agreed to complete Jón Helgason's work on the A-redaction. This first volume was published in 2001 as volume 19 in the A-series of the Editiones Arnamagnæanæ (reviewed in JEGP, 102 [2003], 565–67) under the editorship of Bjarni Einarsson. Bjarni Einarsson, however, did not live to finish the edition, and it was completed by Michael Chesnutt.
